Getting Specific: How to Fix the Budget - Rep. Paul Ryan

While the threats from budget deficits as far as the eye can see and a ballooning national debt are on the public's mind, there is still too little discussion about how to actually fix the problems. In fact, when it comes to specifics, most politicians are more likely to embrace changes that would make the deficit situation worse, not better. Please join us for a policy forum and lunch to look at a number of specific solutions to help fix the problem. Topics will range from defense cuts, to Social Security, to healthcare, to tax policy. At this event, the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget will release the first papers from its new series, Let's Get Specific. A number of prominent members of Congress will join us to share their ideas. A comprehensive budget plan, developed by CRFB president Maya MacGuineas and Bill Galston of the Brookings Institution, will also be released. http://www.newamerica.net/events/2010/getting_specific_how_to_fix_the_budget
