DIY $14 Underwater housing experiment for the Swivl Personal Camera Man

The Swivl Personal Cameraman was not designed to work underwater, so I tried it anyway. The experiment was not a complete sucess, but you may find the results interesting and worth persuing on your own. I used low cost items from Walmart mostly and improvised them into an underwater camera housing. I used my Kodak Playsport to take the video. I used a milk crate and bricks as bllast. The materials for the housing cost about $14. I built it on my kitchen table using a pair of pliers, a hand drill and a razor blade. if I were to make it again I would spend more time and add the ballast to the inside of the container and not use the basket and bricks. The Swivl needs to be kept level and the bricks in the basket attached with wires was not easy to make level in the time I had. The experiment was only a partial sucess as it did not determine how far the IR signal would operate underwater. However, If it proves to work consistently at even a few feet of distance the Swivl may end up being a good tool for swimmers to see their swimming on video to help them improve their performance. I think it may also be cool to see underwater fishing if the remote can be slid down the line when a gamefish is on to record the underwater action. I can imagine some pretty goofy pool videos also.
