UNESCO's work in Early Childhood Care and Education

UNESCO's Regional Office for Education in Africa, based in Dakar, Senegal, promotes early childhood care and education (EECE) in Africa. Today only 42 % of sub-Saharan countries carry out early childhood care and education programmes for children under the age of 3. Less than 15% of African children get a chance to attend a full year of preschool education, UNESCO believest that early childhood care and education EECE is key to prepare children for school.
