I show you the basic classical theory of a BJT (to the standard of perhaps an introductory course in Electronics or Physics). I discuss its use as a switch (i.i when the transistor conducts then its output is LOW and when it does not conduct (or is off then the output is HIGH). Then I illustrate the BJT in operation by wiring one in a circuit displaying its dependance on the base current.
