Check out Bas Rutten's Liver Shot on MMA Surge: http://bit.ly/MMASurgeEp1 Bending Practice Exercises (In this example, bend the 3rd string starting on the 7th fret): Exercise #1 (Bend Up): Pick the 3rd string, and with your third finger, bend the string up a whole step and stop without bending the string down. Exercise #2 (Bend Up and Down): Pick the 3rd string, and with your third finger, bend the string up a whole step then back down a whole step to the original note. Make sure that this is one fluid motion and that the bended note is in tune. Exercise #3 (Reverse Bend): With your third finger, bend the 3rd string up a whole step, pick the string then bend back down to the original note. Bending Practice Tips: Tip #1: Take it slowly and make sure not to hurt yourself. Bending can be very strenuous on the hands when you first start out. Make sure not to over practice this skill so that you don't injure yourself. Tip #2: Make sure that you are turning your wrist on your fretting hand correctly. Don't put all of the stress on your fingers. As an additional aid, put some weight behind the finger you're bending with by using your other fingers for support. Tip #3: Play along with this practice video as best you can. Use a metronome if you wish to achieve higher precision. Also, try bending different intervals on different strings with different fingers.
