Start by drawing Pumbaa using the breakdown. Draw the construction lines lightly, so that you can easily erase them later. 2. After you've finished the basic shapes, start adding the smaller details, committing to lines and erasing construction lines as you go. 3. Add any shading and finishing touches, continuing to thicken the lines.? Lion King Drawing Tips Before drawing the full character, practice drawing their basic shapes independent of the character. For example, for a character whose basic shape is a rectangle, practice drawing lots of rectangles. Keep your drawings very loose and your construction lines very light. When you commit to lines, draw them thicker, so that you'll be able to erase the lighter construction lines. As an exercise, get an egg and try drawing an eyeline and a line of action on it. Move it around to see the character from different perspectives. When inking, always start from top to bottom, right to left, to avoid smudging the ink.* Always save your sketches and drawings. They will be useful for evaluating your progress as an artist, and one day, you may even be able to sell them. * The program being used in this video is ArtRage, available for Windows, Mac or the iPad.
