Learn guitar chords for FREE through our new game Chord Master: http://bit.ly/ChordMasterYT The Set Wait for Note Option basically tells Pro Tools to not record anything until the first MIDI note is actually played. So, even if you press the Record button and everything is ready to record, Pro Tools will not begin recording anything until the very first MIDI note is played. This is a handy option to use because it allows you to playback what you may have already recorded and record new music on the MIDI track without recording over your hard work. Where you decide to come in on the track is entirely at your discretion. The Wait for Note button is located in the transport window. To open it, press Command/Ctrl+1. It's the left most button located directly beneath the Meter and Tempo display. The button is enabled when it's a blue color. Place the playback marker anywhere you like. With the Wait for Note and Record Enable buttons turned on, whatever you play won't officially be recorded until you punch in and start playing.? *Note: Be sure to also enable the Merge Button; this way, any new playing you record will not be recorded over what's already on the track.
