Check out Bas Rutten's Liver Shot on MMA Surge: http://bit.ly/MMASurgeEp1 After you've recorded your software instruments into tracks, you'll need to know how to select the material. After it's selected, then you can quantize notes, shift them around or perform other edits to the music.? There are three ways to access the note selecting tool:? 1. Smart tool: When you select the bracket over the three buttons at the top tool bar, your cursor becomes the smart tool. It will perform different functions depending on where you hover the cursor.? You can access the grabber tool from within the smart tool. Hover over a note with your cursor until it turns into a grabber finger icon. When you click, it will select the note.? 2. Grabber tool: You can also access the grabber tool by selecting just the grabber button alone, without the smart tool. It functions in the same way as with the smart tool.? 3. Selector tool: You can also use the selector tool from within the smart tool. When it's not hovering over notes, the cursor will become a "+" sign.? Click and drag it over the notes you want to select. Once they're highlighted, you can move them, adjust them or make other edits.? 4. Pencil tool: You can select the pencil tool in the top toolbar to make your cursor a pencil icon. This has different functions from the audio waveform view.? When you hover the cursor over a note on the track, it will become the grabber even though you're in the pencil tool mode. You can then use the grabber like usual.
