Reese Witherspoon Hit by Car

Check out Bas Rutten's Liver Shot on MMA Surge: Reese Witherspoon was struck by a car Wednesday while out for a run in Santa Monica, California, but was not seriously injured, a spokesperson for the actress confirmed. Police said Witherspoon was jogging around 11 a.m. near 20th Street and Georgina Avenue when she was struck, according to CNN Los Angeles affiliate KTLA. Police say the driver was an 84-year-old woman from Santa Monica, KTLA reported. She was cited for failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk and released. "The driver seemed to have not seen her because of a large tree at the intersection," a witness told Us Weekly, calling the "Legally Blonde" star "lucky, because it could have been much more serious." Witherspoon was released from the hospital by Wednesday afternoon, and is recovering at the Brentwood-area home in L.A. she shares with husband Jim Toth and her kids Ava, 11, and Deacon, 7. Witherspoon, 35, most recently starred in "Water for Elephants" with Robert Pattinson. She won a best actress Oscar in 2006 for her performance as June Carter Cash in "Walk the Line."
