Bestselling Learn Guitar on Android! http://bit.ly/LearnGuitarAndroid If you're working on a track and realize that a good take was ruined by a burst of air, distortion or other type of error, you can correct the waveforms by drawing them by hand. This will remove the bad sounds so that you can save the recorded take.? First you'll need to select the pencil tool in the top bar. When you click on the button, the menu provides multiple ways to draw in the waveforms.? Select Free Hand for redrawing waves.? Now zoom in on the area of the track that you want to fix. It's best to use the hotkey "T" to zoom in easily. Make sure you're zoomed in all the way so you can see each line of the waveform.? Now you need to redraw the caps of the waves with the pencil.? Go through the distorted section and draw new peaks below the original ones. Pro Tools will automatically smooth out the curve and remove the original peak. While this isn't too difficult, it can be tedious to redraw each wave.? As you fix the waves, try to recreate the original fading of the waveforms. If you mess any up, just use Apple+Z to undo the action.? It's also a good idea to save a copy of the track before you make the edits, just in case you make any mistakes.
