How to Do Lateral Hurdle Jumps

Getting Started To perform this exercise, you'll need to set up a hurdle on the ground. One easy way to do this is by spacing two dumbbells on the floor parallel to each other. Lay a pole over the top of them.? Start off at the base level and increase the hurdle's height when you are comfortable with the movement.? Perform the Exercise Once you've set up your hurdle, you're ready to do the lateral hurdle jumps.? One Foot Warmup * Familiarize yourself with the height of the hurdle by warming up with a single-foot jump.? * Stand sideways next to the hurdle on the floor. You should be in a profile position next to it.? * Jump sideways over the hurdle, leading with the foot closest to it. * The leading foot should land on the opposite side of the hurdle first.? * Then bring down your other foot next to the hurdle.? * Continue jumping over the hurdle for about a minute to warm yourself up.? Lateral Hurdle Jumps * To complete the regular hurdle jump, position yourself sideways next to the hurdle in the profile position.? * Keep your knees and feet together.? * Bend both knees and jump sideways over the hurdle.? * When you come down on the other side of the hurdle, don't move any other parts of your body. Try not to sink into a squat when you come down. * Your feet should land firmly on the ground.? * You can speed up or slow down this exercise according to your fitness level. * Continue jumping over the hurdle for one full minute.?
