While you're in the air, bring your right foot left and slightly forward while bringing your left foot right and slightly backward. Land with your feet crossed, right foot in front of left. 2. Do another small jump straight up. While in the air, bring your right and left feet back to their normal positions. Land with your feet spread out to shoulder width. 3.?Do a small jump straight up. In the air, bring your left foot right and slightly forward while bringing your right foot left and slightly backward. Land with your feet crossed, left foot in front of right. 4. Repeat step two. Readers with ballet experience should look at steps one and three like a?relev? and steps two and four like a?pli?. Variations Because the criss cross is a footwork move, your other body parts are left free. You can do criss cross variations by doing moves with these other parts. Hands: Extend both forearms out in front of you, palms down and fingers stretched out. Swirl your forearms upward and outward. Elbows: Point your elbows outward and your fists towards each other. When your right foot's in front, your left elbow should be pointing forward. When your left foot's in front, point your right elbow forward. Double Time Variations After practicing the criss cross enough, try doing the move at double time. This version comes with a variation of its own. Hands: Stick one arm out in front of you, throwing out your hand at shoulder height, then let it rest at your side. When your right foot's in front, throw your left hand. When your left foot's in front, throw your right hand. Combination After practicing these moves, try this combination: regular criss cross x 2, regular criss cross with elbows x 2, double time criss cross with hands x 2.
