The Preferences dialog box that appears gives you three different option tabs to view: Editing, Playback and Import. 1. Under the Editing tab, you have the option to choose how you would like to view the Time Display, the Timeline, Audio, Still Images and Transitions. * Checking the box Show Reference Waveforms next to Audio will show you where peaks occur in the audio. * You can choose the amount of time a Still Image is shown. * You can also set the length of time a Transition will occur. 2. When it comes to Playback,?you have the ability to choose when and how Rendering occurs, what specific media should be used for playback, the length of time that should occur as Pre-Roll and Post-Roll and the color of the Player Background. * It's best to choose the Better Performance Playback Quality when using media for playback. * The Background can be set to either Black, White or Checkerboard. 3.?Under the Import tab, you can select various Organizing, Transcoding, Video and Audio options. * Checking the box Create Optimized Media under Transcoding will make Final Cut Pro automatically create new media/new file that is best used in the program and will play back the easiest.
