Skimming. The New Way of Scrubbing - Final Cut Pro X
Check out Bas Rutten's Liver Shot on MMA Surge: http://bit.ly/MMASurgeEp1 Skimming is a lot like Scrubbing, where you would click and drag a clip with your mouse either in the Timeline or the Browser. Now, however, Final Cut Pro X allows users to skim through their clips in new, easier ways. You can skim through your clips in the Timeline using your mouse without clicking and dragging, or you can click and drag to have a little more control over the position of the play marker. You also won't hear any audio if you click and drag to skim, as opposed to not clicking and dragging to hear the audio at the particular position of the play marker. Skimming also works in the small viewer window in the Browser.? The Timeline in Final Cut Pro X comes equipped with a few extra options to control Skimming. You can choose to Turn video and audio skimming on or off by toggling the appropriate icon located at the top right corner of the bar above the Timeline.? This allows you to skim without viewing the video that would appear at the exact location of the play back marker or without hearing the audio. This can be preferable depending on your particular editing tastes and preferences. *Note: once you turn off the audio or video skimming, it will no longer work in either the Timeline or the Browser.
