To do so, first either navigate to the top menu bar and click Track -- New or press Shift+Command+N on your keyboard. The New Tracks window will appear. Choose the type of track you would like to create, which would most likely be an Audio Track if you're recording something with a microphone, and press Create. Make sure the Input and Output settings are correct. Your Interface should be set to the same Input that your microphone is plugged in to.? If your microphone is plugged into Input 1, then choose IN 1 for the track's Input in Pro Tools. Your Output should be set to OUT 1-2 (Stereo). You should now be able to turn on the Track Record Enable button and receive an audio signal. You can tell if everything is working correctly by viewing the Velocity meter in the edit window.? You should see the green, yellow, orange and red bars light up accordingly. If not, either check your Input and Output settings and make sure they're correct and matching, or adjust your signal levels. When you're ready to record, either navigate to the top tool bar and press the Record button followed by the Play button, or press 3 on the numeric keypad.
