It could be as minor as a single note or as much as an entire verse or chorus. Using this technique is ideal when you don't need to record over the entire track but only need to capture a small section.? How to Punch In & Out To set up Pro Tools to allow for punching in, you want to make sure you're in that specific record mode.? Navigate to the top tool bar and right-click on the Record button. Choose QuickPunch from the drop down menu that appears. Place the playback marker at the spot you want to begin recording from. Be sure to give yourself enough room to either click on the? Record button in the top tool bar or press 3 on your keyboard's numeric pad and have time to begin recording without any mistakes.
