Clicking on this button will reveal a menu with a whole series of effects to choose from that each apply a different look to a selected clip. To add an effect to a clip, simply click and drag on the desired effect from the browser menu over to the clip and drop it on to it. To edit an effect, click on the small icon at the top left corner of a clip that has an effect on it in the Timeline. This will reveal a menu with various options, including?Edit Effects. Clicking on Edit Effects will show an effects menu to the right of the Viewer. In this menu you can adjust the Amount (or intensity) that a chosen effect has on a clip by adjusting the corresponding slider. You can also add multiple effects to a clip. If you click on the small blue square next to each effect you can remove it from a clip. You can also adjust the Color and Correction of an effect, and Transform, Crop or Distort an effect on a clip. You can even set Keyframes to make an effect appear at the beginning of a clip and have it gradually fade away by the end of the clip. Both Video and Audio effects are possible to add to clips, and you can Preview an effect in the Effects Browser before adding it to a particular clip.
