Character Breakdown of Angry Birds

Check out Bas Rutten's Liver Shot on MMA Surge: http://bit.ly/MMASurgeEp1 Each Angry Birds character has a single geometric shape as the basis for its body. Because the characters from Angry Birds are very simple, we've provided one breakdown video for many of the characters, in order to give an idea of the character design style. Yellow Bird ?1. For the body, draw a large triangle. 2. Because the character is looking down and to our right, draw a curved vertical line of action down the second third of the triangle.?Draw a horizontal line of action, the eyeline, across the first third of the triangle. 3. For the eyebrows, draw a v shape on top of the eyeline. 4. For the eyes, draw a curved line down from each eyebrow. Draw it near the end of each eyebrow, but not at the end. Add two pupils on the eyeline, near the right corner of each eye. 5. For the beak, draw a diamond, or rhombus, right below the eyes. The left side should be wider than the right, where it comes to a sharp point. Add a horizontal line across the center. 6. Round out the bottom of the character. 7. Draw two spikes projecting left at the top of the triangle. Add three more at the bottom left of the triangle. Blue Bird 1. For the body, draw a circle. 2. Because the character is looking up and to our right, draw the curved vertical line of action down the second third of the circle.?Draw the eyeline across the second third of the circle. 3. For the eyes, draw a small circle on each side of the line of action. They should be bisected by the eyeline. 4. For the beak, draw a triangle pointing up and to the right. Its top left corner should touch the eye on our left. 5. Draw two small spikes on top of the circle, one coming out of the line of action and one just to its left. They should both be falling backwards. 6. For the pupils, draw two dots on the eyeline, one in the center of each eye. 7. For the tail, draw two small, curved rectangles on the bottom of the circle, pointing down and backwards, in line with the beak. Pigs 1. For the body, draw a horizontal oval. 2. Because the pigs are usually facing straight towards the screen, draw the?curved vertical line of action down the center of the circle.?Draw the eyeline across the center of the circle. 3. For the snout, draw a horizontal oval around the intersection of the two lines. 4. For the eyes, draw a circle on each side of the snout. For the pupils, add a dot in the center of each eye. 5. For the teeth, draw four small u shapes coming down from the snout. For the mouth, draw a broader u shape coming down from the center of the tooth on the left. It should come back up to the center of the tooth on the right. 6. For the nostrils, draw a dot on each side of the line of action, inside the snout. 7. To turn him into King Pig, draw a crown with three spikes on top of his head, right on the line of action. Egg Bird 1. For the basis of the body, draw a circle. Around the circle, draw a vertical oval that's wider at the base than the top, creating an egg-like shape. 2. Because the character is looking slightly down and to our right, draw the curved vertical line of action down the second third of the egg.?Draw the eyeline across the second third of the circle. 3. For the eyes, draw a circle on each side of the line of action. Since Egg Bird's eyes are very far apart, the one on our right should be next to the line of action, and the other one should be far to the left of the line. 4. For the beak, draw a circle on the line of action, below the eye on our right. Draw a horizontal line across it, then make the lower beak stick out past the right edge of the circle. Add a line that curves down and left from the beak split. It should come from the line of action to the left side of the circle. 5. Add a curved horizontal line below each eye and a pupil dot inside each eye. The dots should be at the bottoms of the eyes and to the right of their centers. Bomb Bird 1. For the body, draw a circle. 2.?Because the character is looking up and to our right, draw the curved vertical line of action down the center of the circle.?Draw the eyeline across the second third of the circle. 3. For the eyes, draw a circle on each side of the line of action, making sure they are not touching the line. They should be bisected by the eyeline. Inside each, add a line curving down from the top to the eyeline. From this line, add a line curving slightly up and meeting the right side of the eye. For the pupils, add a small circle in the top right of each eye. Read more by visiting our page at: http://www.mahalo.com/courses/draw-cartoon-characters/angry-birds/character-breakdowns/
