Markers - Pro Tools 9

Check out Bas Rutten's Liver Shot on MMA Surge: What Are Markers? Markers have a separate timeline in Pro Tools, similar to Bars|Beats, Minutes:Seconds, etc. However, Markers places a marker inside Pro Tools and helps you separate and organize your song based on category, such as verse, chorus, second verse, bridge, solo, etc. Markers essentially break up your song into chunks so you can navigate the project better and jump from one marker to another. How to Create a Marker To create a Marker, all you have to do is make sure the play marker is where you want it to be and press Enter on the keyboard (not Return but Enter next to the numeric numpad). This brings up the New Memory Location dialog box. Another way is to make sure the play marker is where you want it to be and click the small plus sign next to Markers in the top left corner. Name your new marker according to what part of the song it represents on your timeline. To add another Marker, place the play marker at the spot where you want to create the Marker and press Enter next to the numpad. Each time you place a new Marker, that section appears as a different color on the timeline. When you're done placing all of your Markers, you can easily see them all in one location by pressing Command+5 (numpad 5). This brings up the Memory Locations dialog box where you can view all of your Markers. You can also access this by navigating to the top menu bar and clicking Window -- Memory Locations. If you click on one of the Markers in the Memory Locations box, your play marker will automatically be placed at that location on the timeline. Read more by visiting our page at:
