Check out Bas Rutten's Liver Shot on MMA Surge: http://bit.ly/MMASurgeEp1 Arranging Windows in Track Section In Pro Tools, you have two main windows to work in: the mixer window and the edit window. If you want, you can choose to only work in the edit window. Omitting the mixer window can help if you are only working with one monitor and you don't have enough screen space to support both windows. Click on the small downward arrow near the top left corner of the track list. You will see a drop down menu appear with the following options: Comments Mic Preamps Instrument Inserts A-E Inserts F-J Sends A-E Sends F-J I/O Real-Time Properties Track Color You have the ability to choose all of them or only some of them. It depends on your personal preferences. If you choose All, you will open all of them up. While this gives you access to everything, you also lose screen space. The most ideal settings to choose are Inserts A-E, Sends F-J and I/O. Inserts are EQs, processors and such. They allow access to plugins. Sends let you send a specific track to reverb. I/O allows you to control your Ins and Outs. You can select whether you would rather have an interface input or a bus input on a track. Clicking on Bus our OUT brings up a fader window. With this fader control, you don't need to use the mixer window.
