Using a Mac - DMG Compression

Check out Bas Rutten's Liver Shot on MMA Surge: http://bit.ly/MMASurgeEp1 In this video, Mahalo expert Justin Zagri explains how DMG compression works on a Mac. Using a Mac - DMG Compression --------------------------------------------------------------------- DMG is a compression mode offered on Macs. Different from ZIP compression, DMG compression takes it to the next level. It allows for more options, gives you more compression and allows you to compress larger files. Start by selecting a large file or perhaps a folder that contains many files. Navigate to the top menu bar and click Go -- Utilities. Inside the Utilities folder that comes up, open Disk Utility. With Disk Utility open, navigate to the top menu bar again and click File -- New -- Disk Image from Folder. Choose the folder you wish to compress by double-clicking on it. Rename the file/folder as necessary and choose the location it will be saved in.? Choose your Image Format.? * Read-Only will save your compressed file as a file that can only be opened and read but not changed or added to. * Compressed is similar to Read-Only, except it compresses the chosen file a lot. * Read/Write is also similar to Read-Only with the added benefits of being able to change and add to the file in the future. * DVD/CD Master will make a special file that can be burned to a CD or DVD to be accessed from. You can also choose to add Encryption to the compressed DMG file with either 128-bit AES encryption or 256-bit AES encryption. This basically adds a password to the file if you want to require one to open the file. Read more by visiting our page at: http://www.mahalo.com/using-a-mac-dmg-compression/
