Self-help Guru James Ray Convicted in Sweat Lodge Deaths

Check out Bas Rutten's Liver Shot on MMA Surge: http://bit.ly/MMASurgeEp1 An Arizona jury has found James Ray guilty of negligent homicide in the deaths of Kirby Brown, James Shore and Lizbeth Marie Neuman. The conviction acquits the self-help guru of manslaughter charges, but his sentence could still include up to 11 years in prison. Prosecutor's claimed Ray's recklessness in operating a 2009 sweat lodge, costing each partipant up to $10,000 to attend, caused the deaths of three people and the hospitalization of fifteen more. More than 40 others were injured in the event. Ray, who has appeared on the Oprah Winfrey Show and Larry King Live, had rented the sweat lodge for his five-day "Spiritual Warrior" event. Loyal followers of Ray testified that Ray instructed them to ignore their fears and trust him even if they felt they couldn't take the heat. http://jamesray.com/company/photos-logos.php http://news.blogs.cnn.com/2011/06/22/self-help-guru-james-arthur-ray-convicted-in-sweat-lodge-deaths/?hpt=hp_t2 http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-13884063 http://www.people.com/people/article/0,,20504662,00.html
