Ja Rule Goes to Prison

Check out Bas Rutten's Liver Shot on MMA Surge: Like us on Facebook! Visit the official Mahalo page: Ja Rule has turned himself in. On Wednesday June 8, 2011 the hip-hop artist surrendered to New York authorities to serve a two year sentence he received in December of 2010. The sentence stems from a 2007 arrest in which the 35 year-old singer -- born Jeffrey Atkins -- was slapped with gun possession charges. Police found a loaded semi-automatic handgun in his sports car with the serial-number scratched off. Rule was accompanied by his wife and family along with his lawyer and another associate at the Manhattan criminal courts building. Rule will spend up to two weeks in New York's Rikers Island jail before being transferred to a different correctional facility upstate. In May of 2011, Rule expressed his regret on RapFix Live, "I'm disappointed. I'm mad at myself." Rule's last remark to everyone as he was escorted out of the courthouse was, "Real life is a fantasy, f--k fame. I'm ready for this to get over with. I am focused."
