Check out Bas Rutten's Liver Shot on MMA Surge: http://bit.ly/MMASurgeEp1 In this video, Mahalo's Photoshop expert Justin Zagri shows how to add some effects to create a plasma gun. Photoshop Tutorial - Plasma Gun --------------------------------------------------------------------- Continuing with the movie poster series, this tutorial will show you how to add some effects that will serve as a plasma light for the gun in the image. You can achieve this look by using a Custom Brush and a Lens Flare. Open the Smart Object of your character and click on the original gun layer in the Layers panel. Duplicate that layer by pressing Ctrl+J (Command+J for Mac).? Get rid of the mask in the layer you just duplicated by unlinking the mask from the layer and dragging it to the trash icon at the bottom of the Layers panel. Move that layer to the top of the panel and rename it Gun Barrel.? Zoom in on the barrel of the gun and grab the Pen Tool to mask out the barrel. Once it's fully masked, right-click on the selection and choose Create vector mask. Click on Fx at the bottom of the Layers panel and choose Outer Glow in the menu that pops up. Click the Color box to change it. Raise the Spread a little and increase the Size a lot. Click the Inner Glow tab to change those settings. Change the Color, Size and Opacity. Press OK when you're finished. Now, you'll want to add a "smoking gun" effect. An easy way to do this is to conduct a Google image search for Photoshop Custom Paint Brushes. You should be able to find a photo called "Abstract Brushes" that you can also find at www.r0man.de. Make sure it's an ABR file that you download because that is a paint brush file for Photoshop. When it's done downloading, open the downloaded file to open it automatically in Photoshop. Grab the Brush Tool and select the appropriate brush from the top options panel. It's one of the three pictured above.? Make sure the Foreground color is the same as the color of the Outer Glow. In the tutorial, it is yellow. Then, create a New Layer and rename it Plasma. Move this Plasma layer behind the Gun Barrel layer. Grab the Brush Tool, line up the pattern and simply click on the canvas where you would like the abstract brush placed.
