Photoshop Tutorial - Making Plastic Look Like Metal

Check out Bas Rutten's Liver Shot on MMA Surge: In this video, Mahalo's Photoshop expert Justin Zagri explains how to make a plastic object look more like metal. Photoshop Tutorial - Making Plastic Look Like Metal --------------------------------------------------------------------- Now that you've changed your character's clothing and added a tattoo to a body part, you'll want to make the gun look more realistic. It's a plastic prop that needs to look more like it's made of metal. Highlight the gun layer in the Layers panel and Duplicate it by pressing Ctrl+J (Command+J for Mac). With that new layer selected, choose Hard Light under the Blend Mode drop down menu. Navigate to the top menu bar and choose Filter -- Other -- High Pass.? Generally, the higher you adjust the Radius slider, the more metallic-looking the image will become. Turn off the visibility of every other layer except the gun layers and press and hold Ctrl+Alt+Shift+E (Command+Option+Shift+E for Mac). This will create a composite layer. Select this composite layer and Add a layer mask to it by clicking on the appropriate icon at the bottom of the Layers panel. With the new layer mask added, change the Blend Mode to Overlay in the drop down menu. Make sure the layer is selected (not just the mask) and navigate to the top menu bar. Click Filter -- Sharpen -- Unsharp Mask. Adjust the sliders to add a "grimy" effect to the gun to enhance details. Make sure the Threshold is 0. Read more by visiting our page at:
