Check out Bas Rutten's Liver Shot on MMA Surge: In this video, Mahalo's Photoshop expert Justin Zagri demonstrates how to add destructive elements to a cityscape, such as putting a hole in a building. Photoshop Tutorial - Destroy City - Put a Hole in the Building --------------------------------------------------------------------- Adding a hole through one of the buildings in your cityscape adds a nice, effective touch. To begin, you need to find an image of a building with a hole that has been ripped through it. Conduct a Google image search for something like "building with hole." When you find an image you're satisfied with, open it in Photoshop and use the Lasso Tool to isolate the inside of the hole. Once you've selected it in its entirety, press Ctrl+X (Command+X for Mac) to cut it from the image. With the hole missing, use the Marquee Tool to select the hole and a square portion of the building's side that surrounds the hole. Right-click on your selection and choose Layer via Copy. Also, make sure your top layer is selected in the Layers panel. Navigate to your cityscape and paste your new layer on to the canvas. Move the building hole so that it rests on top of one of the buildings in the cityscape. Make sure both buildings fit together by making sure the floors are parallel and the surface of the building face in the same direction and angle.? Feel free to adjust the new pasted image by navigating to the top menu bar and clicking Edit -- Transform. There are numerous options available in the drop down menu for you to use. Now, you'll want to move the building hole aside and grab the Eraser Tool to erase a piece from the building that's going to end up with a hole in it. Navigate to the top options panel and adjust the Eraser's brush size and shape. Choose a brush that is a bit more destructive, such as the number 14 brush, and begin removing the guts of one of the buildings. As you erase, you may reveal part of the layer that is behind the cityscape. That's OK, because you're going to be putting the building hole layer over this hole you're erasing. Once your hole is erased, move the building hole layer behind the cityscape layer and adjust the building hole to fill in the hole you've just erased. Press Enter to establish it in its place.
