Photoshop Tutorial - Destroy City - Blend building hole

Check out Bas Rutten's Liver Shot on MMA Surge: http://bit.ly/MMASurgeEp1 In this video, Mahalo's Photoshop expert Justin Zagri demonstrates how to blend in a building hole that has been artificially created. Photoshop Tutorial - Destroy City - Blend building hole --------------------------------------------------------------------- So, you have the hole placed in your building and you're off to a good start, but you need to take the extra steps necessary to really make the hole "pop" out and simultaneously blend in. The first thing you'll want to do to achieve this is make the building look older and more damaged. You can achieve this look with the Burn Tool.? Select the Burn Tool from the left side tool bar and adjust the brush to something more jagged looking. The number 24 brush that's pictured is a good choice. Set it to 30 pixels and start with an Exposure level of 75%. Darken the areas of the building that surround the hole with the Burn Tool. Use the Burn in a chaotic manner. You can also add the Burn effect to the entire building, but make your brush larger in the top options panel and cut the Exposure to 50%. This will add some differentiation between the darker burn around the hole and the lighter burn on the rest of the building. Next, you'll need to remove some windows. Make sure you're on the cityscape's layer, grab the Lasso Tool and trace around some of the windows that surround the hole. Press Ctrl+X (Command+X for Mac) to cut the selected windows from the building layer and expose the background. Once you've removed enough windows, you'll want to change the color balance of the hole itself since it's a separate image. Navigate to the top menu bar and click Image -- Adjustments -- Brightness/Contrast. Make sure you're on the building hole's layer now and try reducing the Brightness and increasing the Contrast with the sliders to blend the hole in better with the rest of the building. You can also change the colors by navigating to the top menu bar and clicking Image -- Adjustments -- Color Balance. Adjust the appropriate sliders to blend the hole in better.? If it stand out a bit too much, navigate to the top menu bar again and click Image -- Adjustments -- Hue/Saturation. Try decreasing the Saturation or the Lightness. You can also add more of a Burn effect if you wish. Try experimenting with the different Adjustments under Image.
