Check out Bas Rutten's Liver Shot on MMA Surge: http://bit.ly/MMASurgeEp1 In this video, Mahalo math expert Allison Moffett shows you the proper order of operations. What is the Order of Operations? --------------------------------------------------------------------- Whenever you have a math problem that is more than just A plus B (ie: a problem with different signs and things that you must do to the numbers), there is a certain way you must do the problem so that you end up with the right answer. The order can be abbreviated as PEMDAS, or parentheses, exponents, multiplication/division, and addition/subtraction. First: Parentheses --------------------------------------------------------------------- Any numbers that appear within parentheses need to be calculated first. Second: Exponents --------------------------------------------------------------------- Any numbers that have exponents (numbers that are written above the number line) need to be calculated second. Third: Multiplication and Division --------------------------------------------------------------------- Any numbers that are being multiplied or divided need to be calculated third from left to right. Fourth: Addition and Subtraction --------------------------------------------------------------------- Any numbers that are being added or subtracted need to be?calculated fourth from left to right.
