Prospect Park Zoo --------------------------------------------------------------------- Prospect Park Zoo is a 12-acre zoo located on 450 Flatbush Ave., Brooklyn, NY?11225, on the eastern side of Prospect Park.?It houses about 630 animals, representing over 141 species, including the California Sean Lion, the Yellow-footed Rock Wallaby and the Bali Mynah. It contains several educational exhibits, such as Animals in Our Lives and Discovery Trail.?There is also a Discovery Center for children. Zookeepers offer Q&A lectures about various animals, along with sea lion feedings. See the schedule for these events on the Zoo's website.The Zoo was opened in 1935, and it's visited by nearly a quarter of a million people every year. Though the Zoo has no food establishments, there are vending machines on the premises. Summer Hours?(Apr 2--Nov 6): * 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday through Friday * 10 a.m.-5:30 p.m., weekends & holidays Winter Hours?(Nov 7--April 1): * 10:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m., daily Admission: * Adults: $8.00 * Children (3--12):?$5.00 * Seniors (65+):?$6.00 Children under 3 years old get in free, as do members of the Wildlife Conservation Society. The last ticket of each day is sold 30 minutes prior to closing. c Parking and Public Transportation --------------------------------------------------------------------- No parking is available at the zoo itself; however, there is street parking on Flatbush Avenue. The zoo is easily accessible by public transportation. Via Subway: Take the B or Q train (local or express) or the local Franklin Avenue Shuttle (S) to Prospect Park Station. Exit at Flatbush Avenue/Ocean Avenue and walk north on Flatbush Avenue to the Zoo. Via Bus: Take the B41 local to the entrance on Flatbush Avenue or the B47 to the intersection of Flatbush Avenue and Empire Boulevard.
