Knife Grip --------------------------------------------------------------------- Hold the knife with your middle, ring and pinky fingers around the handle and your thumb and forefinger around the hilt, where the blade meets the handle.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m2Z_Ol4dgAs? Cutting Motion --------------------------------------------------------------------- With the center of the blade touching the potato, pull the knife slightly back and up before slicing through the potato in a forward motion.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m2Z_Ol4dgAs? 1. Start by cutting off one of the rounded sides of the potato. 2. With the cut side down, continue removing the rounded sides of the potato. 3. Cut off the top and bottom sides of the potato so that the vegetable has a rectangular shape. 4. Chop the potato into thirds length-wise. 5. Take the slices and cut them into half-inch strips, resembling a medium-sized julienne cut.6. Cut each strip into quarter-inch-thick slices.
