Check out Bas Rutten's Liver Shot on MMA Surge: http://bit.ly/MMASurgeEp1 In this video, Mahalo expert Justin Z. gives a brief description on the uses of the Lasso Tool for Adobe Photoshop CS5. Lasso Tool --------------------------------------------------------------------- The Lasso tool is a selection and masking tool that allows you to use your mouse and select an exact area for manipulation or isolation. Masking is great for making changes to a part of your image without affecting the rest. 1. To access the different Lasso tools, simply click?with your mouse?on the button in the tool bar that looks like a lasso or press L on your keyboard. Since there are three different types of Lasso tools, you can hold Shift+L to cycle through them.2. To use the tool, simply click and drag around your selection. As you are dragging the mouse, you have to move the selection to the point you started at to complete the mask. If you let go of the mouse before you're done, the mask will fill itself in and it may not be what you wanted.3. Once you have made your selection, you have multiple options ranging from copying to cutting, making new layers, painting, etc.4. To make more than one selection, press and hold Shift, then click and drag.5. To combine selections, hold Shift and drag a new shape that overlaps the previous mask. Once you let go, the masks will combine.6. The other tools allow for different options to achieve similar results. The Magnetic Lasso tool will make predictions based on colors and lines already in the photo. You don't have to click and drag; just click once and follow the lines as closely as possible. This tool isn't completely accurate, so its reliability is based on how much the colors and shapes differentiate.7. The Polygonal Lasso tool works by clicking on multiple areas and creates shapes for every time you click. Simply click on the different points of your area in the image and keep clicking until you arrive at your starting point. The tool will create a mask as accurate as you make it.?8. The Lasso is just one of the multiple tools that allow you to mask and manipulate your image. Be sure to try them all out to see what they can do for you.
