Check out Bas Rutten's Liver Shot on MMA Surge: Mahalo arts and crafts expert Eva Sowinski shows you how to create a stained glass heart for Valentine's Day. Creating homemade items to use as holiday gifts or decorations is something you may have considered as a do-it-yourself project. You can learn to make stained glass hearts for Valentine's Day or other holiday of your choosing. This craft is easy to customize as you can select whatever colors or size you prefer. Consider using colors, such as red, pink and white, to tie the craft to Valentine's Day.? Making stained glass hearts may not be suitable for some children. The craft requires the use of scissors and a hot iron. The craft requires few items that you likely have on hand in your home. Step 1: Collect Supplies --------------------------------------------------------------------- Purchase or collect a hole punch, scissors, a box of crayons, string, paper towels, 2 sheets of waxed paper, a paper plate and an iron. The greater variety of crayon colors you obtain, the more color combinations you will have for your stained glass heart. Consider using older or broken crayons you already have on hand, as this project will require breaking and shaving the crayons. Step 2: Prepare Supplies --------------------------------------------------------------------- Take a sheet of waxed paper and fold it in half. Cut out a half heart shape from the folded edge of your waxed paper. Open your waxed paper heart and place it on a flat crafting surface. Select the colors of crayons you want to feature in your stained-glass heart. Unwrap the paper around the crayon, then use your scissors to create crayon shavings onto your paper plate. You can also cut chunks of crayons to create larger "blobs" of color in your final design. Step 3: Create Heart --------------------------------------------------------------------- Arrange your crayon shavings onto your waxed paper heart. You can opt to make a pattern or distribute the colors evenly. After your crayon shaving placement is complete, place your second sheet of waxed paper over the heart and crayon shavings. Place a paper towel over the waxed paper. Ensure your iron has no water inside, then turn it onto the highest heat setting. Once your iron is hot, gently iron over your paper towel to melt and fuse your crayon slivers and wax paper together. Move the iron around to a new spot every 3 to 4 seconds. Allow your heart to cool after you are happy with the blending effect on your heart. Cut around your heart to remove the excess waxed paper. Use your hole punch to make a hole where your heart comes ?to a "v" at the top. Place your string through the heart to finalize your stained glass heart. Read more by visiting our page at:
