Creating decorative items for Valentine's Day is a good way to customize and celebrate holiday festivities. You can learn how to make a paper hearts string for Valentine's Day that will add a special touch to your home decor, holiday parties or school activities. The craft is simple to make and requires supplies that can be purchased at craft or hobby stores. Making paper hearts strings is a craft that is suitable for children under adult supervision. Consider substituting safety scissors for regular scissors, especially when crafting with younger children. You can customize this craft by changing the types of stamps used, the colors and the types of?adornments?selected.?? Step 1: Collect Crafting Supplies --------------------------------------------------------------------- Buy or collect scissors, yarn, glue dots or glue, a hole punch, four tags, stamps, an ink pad and an 11 X 14 sheet of construction paper. Whenever possible, select crafting supplies that highlight traditional Valentine's Day colors such as white, red and pink for the best results. You can use supplies that you already have on hand or you can purchase items at your local hobby or craft store. Step 2: Prepare Hearts --------------------------------------------------------------------- Fold your piece of construction paper in an?accordion-style so that each section is about 3 1/2 to 4 inches in width. Trim off any excess paper. Cut a heart out of the folded paper. Open up your paper to reveal four attached hearts. If the hearts do not appear how you would like them, repeat the process with a new sheet of paper, correcting any?errors?with folding or cutting your heart string. Step 3: Decorate String --------------------------------------------------------------------- Take each tag and punch a hole on the end. Add some color to the tags by rubbing your ink pad over them. Use a stamp with textures to make a design on each tag, or to make the tag look older. Decorate each tag with a different stamp. Use glue dots to affix each tag to the center of a heart. Continue decorating the outside edges of your hearts until you are happy with the appearance of each one. Punch a hole in each end of the heart string. Tie the end of a string of yarn through each of the holes. Use the strings to hang the strand of hearts as a Valentine's Day decoration. Read more by visiting our page at:
