Valentine's Day provides an opportunity to express your feelings to friends, relatives and the love interests in your life. Making homemade Valentines can allow you to personalize the message and design of your holiday exchanges. Crafting a simple Valentine takes minimal time, but may require some investment into supplies if you do not have sufficient materials on hand. Creating Valentines can be a suitable project to perform with children under adult supervision. Some cutting is required, so opt for safety scissors if you are crafting with a younger child. While you can customize the card in whatever manner you choose, consider using traditional Valentine's Day themes such as sweets, hearts or cupids to connect your Valentines with the holiday. Step 1: Obtain Supplies --------------------------------------------------------------------- Purchase or gather scissors, a marker, a glue stick or tacky glue, an envelope, two pieces of paper and foam hearts. One piece of paper should be a solid color while the other should feature a small pattern. Select traditional Valentine's Day colors such as pink, red and white for best results. Step 2: Prepare Decorations --------------------------------------------------------------------- Cut two medium-sized?hearts from your patterned paper. Cut one edge off your solid piece of paper and trim the ends at a 45 degree angle. This piece of paper will serve as the bottom of of a cupcake decoration. Cut another cupcake bottom out of your patterned paper, only slightly larger. Trim the remaining solid piece of paper down to a size that will fit into your envelope. Step 3: Assemble Card --------------------------------------------------------------------- Glue the two cupcake bottoms together, with the patterned piece residing on the bottom. Affix the pieces to the bottom of your solid piece of paper. Attach your two hearts on top of the cupcake base and at an angle to form your frosting. A gap will appear between the points of the hearts. Place a foam heart over the gap to top off the cupcake. Write your Valentine's message on the front of the card and address it on the back. Slide the card into your envelope to finish your homemade Valentine. Read more by visiting our page at:
