Check out Bas Rutten's Liver Shot on MMA Surge: http://bit.ly/MMASurgeEp1 In this video, Mahalo math expert Allison Moffett gives you a quiz on how to calculate the volume of a sphere. Volume of a Sphere Question --------------------------------------------------------------------- Which of the following formulas would you use to find the volume of a sphere? A.? π?r?B. 4π?r?C.?π?r?D. 4/3π?r?E. 2π?r The Correct Answer --------------------------------------------------------------------- If you answered D.?4/3 π?r?, then you're correct. If you didn't, you can either go back and try to figure out how to get the right answer or you can read on below for further explanation. The easiest way to explain this one besides straight memorization, is to eliminate all the other wrong answers. The first answer,? π?r??is almost the correct formula, but it doesn't include the 4/3 coefficient. Answer choice B.?4π?r??is the formula for the surface area of a sphere. C (π?r?) is the formula for the area of a circle,?and E (2π?r)?is the formula for the circumference of a circle. Another helpful tip for volume formulas is to search for a term that is cubed. Since these figures are 3-D, a side or radius should be cubed somewhere in the formula. Read more by visiting our page at: http://www.mahalo.com/the-volume-of-a-sphere-quiz/
