Nov. 5 - Peter Wege, an environmental leader and founder of the Wege Foundation, spoke at a special meeting of the Hauenstein Center's Peter Cook Leadership Academy.In 1968, the number-one song could have been the theme song for the Wege Foundation incorporated the year before: "All you need is love." Peter Wege started the Foundation out of his love for the Earth and all its people. In the book he wrote in 1998, Economicology, he summarized his philosophy: Do all the good you can, in all the ways you can, to all the people you can, just as long as you can. The Five Pillars of the the Wege Foundation's Mission are Education, Environment, Arts & Culture, Health Care, and Human Services.Wege, formerly an executive at the company his father built - Steelcase, Inc. - is recognized for more than twenty years of environmental leadership. His work in Grand Rapids, Michigan, has made it a global leader in LEED-certified building, and one of the greenest cities in the United States.
