For preschoolers a way to make and play a creative game called TIC-TAC-TOE. When playing many skills are used and developed like spatial reasoning, logic, turn taking, directionality, and perspective taking. TIC-TAC-TOE is not a simple game, research shows that children up to age nine still find it challenging. TIC-TAC TOE offers children the opportunity to develop spatial reasoning by figuring out how to place three of the same markers in a row, vertically, horizontally, or diagonally. Often preschoolers can think only of vertical and horizontal lines and only later begin to notice the diagonal line. TIC-TAC-TOE also offers opportunities for perspective taking, as they begin to think about what their opponent might do next and try to block him or her from getting three in a row. Preschoolers often center only on their own row, and do not see their opponent's row. Activities are fun for you and your child to do around your home ... try incorporating themes!
