Warshawski debuted in 1982 in "Indemnity Only," its author, Sara Paretsky, created a sensation by creating a female investigator who uses her wits as well as her fists. Paretsky challenged a genre in which women typically were either vamps or victims. "Body Work" (Putnam) is the latest in the V.I. series.
