Most of the notes in the melody are played multiple times by many different fingers on your right hand. The hand position for this song starts on the G above middle C and extends to the G two octaves above middle C. The biggest five-finger position shift occurs twice, once halfway through the first descending phrase at the beginning and another time when the same section repeats towards the end. This is when you switch from your 1st finger to your 4th finger on the C one octave above middle C.? The biggest stretch is in the last phrase when you play G with your 1st finger and the F, ten keys (5 whole steps) higher, with your 5th finger. Refer to the image below for the range of notes in the melody that will be played on the keyboard: Read more by visiting our page at: http://www.mahalo.com/courses/beginner-piano-course-part-1-c-major/apply-your-skills/away-in-a-manger-melody//
