Older beds can be beautiful, but often don't make the best sleep experience. They're usually not standard sizes, which mean standard size mattresses don't fit on them. On top of that they creak and even break when you're sleeping on one. If you have an older headboard and don't know what to do with it, you can turn it into a seat. Go to the lumber store and have two pieces of wood cut to the same width as your headboard by twenty-six inches in depth. That will be the same height as your piece. Then have two more pieces cut twenty-six inches by twenty-six inches to fasten onto the sides. You can then paint the whole piece or stain it to match the headboard. As a finishing touch you can put on a piece of upholstered cushion.
