Hi, I'm Linda. I created a company called Paint Along. Check us out at paintalongnyc.com. We have really fun painting workshops in Nashville and New York. Once we learn the basics of color theory we are on our way to have a successful painting. You might want by getting a color wheel at the local craft shop and just study it for a little bit. The basic colors on the color wheel are Yellow, Blue and Red. Those are your primary colors. All the other colors come from those basics colors and you can learn how to mix those colors together to get your secondary colors and tertiary colors. You also need to be aware that the colors work together in certain ways. This is called color harmony. There are different ways that the colors work together in the harmonies and they have different names. If you turn your color wheels over, you will have a diagram back here that explains all about the complimentary colors, how they work together and the triadic colors and the analogies colors, the monochromatic colors. So you will get a good explanation of all this colors on the back of your color wheel and you will be able to choose your color and know that your painting is going to work. So as I was planning my tuner painting I referred to my color wheel to plan out the colors. I chose an analogies color scheme starting with the yellow orange and going all the way to the blue green. As you can see I chose five colors that are right next to each other on the color wheel and that's a good example to referring to your color wheel to make a plan for your painting.
