My name is Barbara Esses and I do events for a living. I'm Ruthie Hecht; I'm an event planner and I work with and for my mother. We're going to teach you the do's and don'ts for the perfect wedding. Everyone loves a great destination wedding, what could be better than getting married on the beach or on the top of a mountain in Aspen? Just a few things to remember, when choosing a destination make sure they do weddings, you're not there every day to oversee it, so you want someone on the other end who can really help you out. Sometimes you'll need to bring some things from home, maybe you have a D.J. that you love, you don't want to leave music to chance, so that can be a good idea. Also any of the do it yourself projects; you should do in advance and bring with you, once you're at your gorgeous destination you don't want to worry about these things. You should go to your destination at least once to scout it out, and then one more time maybe a month before the wedding to make sure all the details are in place. You shouldn't have to go again more than a week before your wedding. Make sure it's somewhere that you'll enjoy, your friends will relax and of course keep budget in mind, not just yours but of your guests. If it's going to cost them $3000.00 to go away for the weekend, they might just say no. For your guest, you can either choose somewhere that's in their price range or you can also subsidize it. Make sure you pay for meals, if they afford their airfare and hotel, you can be gracious enough to cover all their food and any really big activities. Destination wedding is not just five hours anymore, you're entertaining people for a whole weekend. And you want it to be a really fun and enjoyable, memorable experience.
