My name is Barbara Esses and I do events for a living. I'm Ruthie Hecht; I'm an event planner and I work with and for my mother. We're going to teach you the do's and don'ts for the perfect wedding. So who should be invited to your wedding? People that you'd like to celebrate with you and of course people who will be happy for you once they're there. If you're having a dancing wedding you want them on the dance floor the entire night. Of course there are some obligatory invites. If you think you're going to see someone on the street and have to walk the other way just cause you didn't invite them to your wedding, just invite them. Two more people won't be the end of the world. It's definitely okay to set age barriers for non-immediate family. You can say no one under 18 invited and people will just have to understand. Of course if you have a venue chosen be aware of its limitations. Over stuffing a wedding makes everybody miserable. You should invite as many as your comfortable with and whoever you're close with. But just remember if you invite one first cousin you can't not invite the others. When you do invite little children make sure there's somebody to take care of them. Of course there are a million compromises throughout planning a wedding and the invitation list is usually the first big one. If your husband wants a big wedding and you want a small one, you can either compromise and have a medium size wedding or have a small ceremony one night and have a huge blowout party the next. So those are some tips on who to invite to your wedding.
