I'm Julia Szabo, also known as a Pet Reporter, and I am the "Living with Dogs" columnist for I've actually written 6 books and I'm hard at work on my next one. It will be about about dogs -- that's as much as I can say right now. I love dogs and I think nobody's life is complete without one. So I'm here to tell you about a variety of different dogs breeds that might suit your lifestyle. I hope you'll adopt one soon. Lassie is like the ultimate Collie. Lassie is probably still the most popular, famous, dog star in the dog star constellation. The first Lassie movie was 1943, Lassie Come Home, everybody knows this movie with Ronnie McDowell and Elizabeth Taylor. You know, it's of course such a heartwarming storing. The reality is that Lassies really are like that. They're incredibly hard working, they're great family dogs, they're wonderful companions. It is a case of Hollywood glamorizing something, but it's not that far from the truth. Lassie was so famous that she had her own star on the Hollywood walk of fame, it's still there, and uh, and nobody really deserves it more because the collie really is a showstopper and a dog with a lot of star quality. They're very sensitive like all dogs are, and, and they have lots of lifestyle needs; they want to be with you, and they want to serve you, they want to have a job. Frequently around airports there have been kind of a problem to do with geese flying, and so they become a menace to the pilots and to air traffic control. What people very ingeniously have done, is use their dogs to chase the geese away, and a lot of dogs have that phrase in which they run after birds. So, that's a perfect combination, and it's a perfect job for a dog who loves to chase after birds. It's a win-win situation, the dog gets a job and is tired out at the end of the day and doesn't do destructive behaviors and there aren't any geese to endanger flights, so, it's a wonderful thing.
