Step 1: Choose a location Choose the best location to store your bike. Look for open spaces along an empty wall or ceiling, and make sure the bike will not extend into doorways or high-traffic pathways when it is mounted. Step 2: Choose a storage device Choose which storage device works for you. If you have room along a wall, install a bike rack; if floor space is at a premium, hang it with ceiling hooks; if you have high ceilings or need help lifting and lowering your bike, install a bike hoist. Step 3: Prepare for installation Use the stud finder to locate the nearest wall stud or ceiling joist in your chosen location. Tip Refer to the specific installation instructions provided by your storage device's manufacturer. Step 4: Measure for best placement of device Use the tape measure to determine the proper height for your rack, or to space your hooks or hoist at the right distance to hold your seat and handlebars. Mark where you need to install screws or hooks with a pencil. Tip To keep your rims straight, don't hang your bike by the wheels. Space the hooks or hoist to grab the handlebars and seat instead. Step 5: Drill guide hole and screw in storage device Drill a small guide hole where you made your pencil mark. Then screw your storage device securely into the wall or ceiling. Warning Always use caution when using a drill; avoid hitting any wires or cables behind the wall. Step 6: Test the device Test the security of your installation by putting a little weight on it. If it is stable, put your bike on your storage rack, hooks, or hoist. Drape fabric over the bike, or weave some ribbon or a string of lights through the spokes. Step 7: Sit back and enjoy your new sculpture Sit back and enjoy your new sculpture or take it out for a ride. Either way, you're making the most of your bicycle. Did You Know?
