The type of student who should not attend Sam Houston State University is someone who is self-centered, judgmental, and who does not appreciate education. Because our school motto is "The Measure of Life is its Service," incoming students should be at least a little bit selfless. Every organization in the school requires volunteering and as well as some classes. If a student is self-centered, they will try to think of any excuse in the world to get away from volunteering and though it is ultimately harming their own self-growth, it is also hurting the community a bit since there will not be an extra helping hand. Any help is welcomed. Also, the person would not enjoy attending the school and part of being in college is loving the college itself. Along with that, SHSU is very diverse in the types of students that attend as in their ethnicity and backgrounds. If there is someone judgmental attending, it will begin to put a negative energy into the school because of them. Negativity is not only detrimental to one's health, but when it is spread into a community or body of students, it can be contagious and detrimental to the health of the school's society. If the student does not appreciate education, there should not be a reason to be in college in the first place. Education is a beautiful thing and after high school, it is a privilege. At SHSU, we value education as much as, if not more, than any other university. The Education program is one of the best and most of the teachers are amazing. Appreciation of education ties in with appreciation of teachers as well. A student who does not care can easily put a damper on the mood in any classroom and will make learning a harder process for their peers. To conclude, Sam Houston State University is not a place for self-centered and judgmental people who do not appreciate education.
