Individually, each student is extraordinarily unique, but together these students make the university a welcoming academic environment that supports the well-being and personal values of each one.

Many students at USD are hardworking and excellent students. Students at USD know how to have fun, and some people take that fun to an extreme, unfortunately. I know many great doctors that graduated from USD, and I believe that the school has great programs that shape a person to have a successful life.

As hard as it is to believe, there is no typical student at the University of South Dakota. In my year at USD, I've met people from all walks of life with all different interests. People at USD come from all over the country, and world to get a quality liberal arts education. However, the type of person that should attend the University of South Dakota, is someone that enjoys one-on-one connections. At USD, you're going to become close with people on your floor, in your classes, in your clubs, and you're going to make connections with your professors. But the only way you're going to get these personal relationships, is if you go out and look for them. I know people that never leave their room besides to go to class and eat, and I'll tell you they have a pretty rough time until they decide to go out and meet a few people.

The type of person that should attend USD is a person who is open to meeting a lot of new people from all over the U.S. Being centrally located in the midwest, people from all over attend USD. Also, they should be open to being cold in the winter months. USD is located east river South Dakota and is right off the river so the winter months can be bitter.

This person should like a smaller campus, very down to earth, and friendly. Most people at the University of South Dakota make friends easily and are nice to most everyone that they meet.

Likes living in small town, easy going, and interested in either medicine, law, or business. There are many students who are athletes, are involved in research, and there are also many student based organizations.

We do not have a typical student at the University of South Dakota. There are so many different people that come to our campus and we love having the different personalities and cultures. We have students that are art majors, or nursing majors, or business majors, or even education majors. With having so many different majors, not everyone can be the same. One thing that is very same among our students though, is that we're all friendly. I don't know if it is just most of us being from South Dakota and having that friendliness, but everyone says hi to everyone. It is a great feeling walking around campus and having people I have never met before just talk to me.
