The professors are wonderful at Montgomery College, being able to focus on students because of the small class size and because of the attitude of the college, wanting to be the best resource they can be to us students. Also, the cost is very low, paying a cheaper price for the same general classes. Lastly, it is the diversity of the campus. I am a leader of a Christian Club called Ambassadors for Christ. Even in my club, there are so many different backgrounds. There are Middle Easterners, Vietnamese, Ghanaian, Nigerian, Caucasian, Hispanic, Malagasy people, and more. On campus and in the classroom, there are both professors and students that are Christian, Muslim, Buddhist, Hindu, Atheists, and more. There aren't many colleges that have such a diversity. This is very valuable not only because it reflects the real world, but also it allows the student to experience and understand other cultures.

Attending Montgomery College is a great way to start your college education. It is a step towards a 4 year degree institution, it saves people money, and it is filled with professors who are willingly there filled with passion to help students achieve their educational and career goals. Every single one of my professors are passionate and intelligent of their topics and love to their share their knowledge with fellow students, which makes the learning experience motivating. All staff and professors are there to help students and the community out of passion, which I can greatly appreciate. Classes are always more intimate due to having smaller sized classes, allowing students to be more involved and have an enjoyable learning experience. Montgomery College is a great community college.

One of the main reasons some one would attend the college is because of the Guaranteed Transfer Partnership Program (GTPP) available to all the students. This allows for the student to receive benefits with whatever school it is partnered with. These only include four year schools in Maryland. Benefits include guaranteed admission, application waive fees, tuition discounts etc. This is very helpful for someone who does not have the money to go straight to a four year university and would like to pay less for classes that they would otherwise pay more for somewhere else. Another reason a someone would go there, is because of the certificates offered there. There is no stigma towards age, and so it wouldn't be abnormal to see an adult who would like to expand his/her professional career by getting certified in a specific field. These certificates include: ACET, food safety, early childhood education and much more. Lastly, someone would go because of the classes disposable to them. Even though the GTPP doesn't cover school outside of Maryland, the selection of credited courses are transferable to hundreds of schools throughout the United States. It is very normal to hear from a student to take their remedial classes at Montgomery College and then go immediately take courses in their field of study at a four year school. This allows for even more possibilities to a student who knows what they would like to major. Perhaps they didn't get accepted into the school they wished to because of their grades in high school, or maybe a immigrant who just earned his GED didn't have the money to go to a four year school in Florida. Montgomery College makes the dreams of a low income student a reality. Two years seems like a long time one would need to wait in order to transfer, but it is the most important time when realizing a major, saving money for tuition, and applying for schools away from home.

The top three reasons are the cost, the opportunity to bring up their GPA's and to figure out what they want to major in.
