Student, Beacon School, Class of 2017,
A typical Beacon student has to be prepared for all challenges given at the school, from hours to homework to a 30-page education reform for a history class. It's a school where you have to work hard to achieve what you want, and the teachers are open minded and teach class more liberally and not like other schools in NYC. Students do not take standardized testing such as the regents and are given project-based assessments to evaluate their performance rather than a test. A student who wants to attend Beacon should be willing to share their views and opinions publicly in class because participation is vital in class, but also a student that is dedicated and willing to sacrifice their free time to study and work hard to achieve their goals at Beacon.
