At Richmond, I think the students pride themselves in having fun without the need for the school’s involvement or funds. While events such as Pig Roast (full day of tailgating in the spring), basketball games (go Spiders), and homecoming festivities (Sammy Adams is cool) boast of full attendance, we like to go to the city of Richmond to have our own fun. Visiting the James River and Belle Isles is a passage of initiation; tanning on the rocks and swimming in the river is easily one of the most refreshing activities during the summer and spring. Hitting Carry Town is also a student favorite. This central street is full of restaurants, shops, diners, and boutiques that are always filled with Richmond students. Finally, being less than two hours away from the mountains, beach or DC makes for a student population that loves road tripping. Whether it’s a day trip to DC, a morning drive to the beach to catch a sunrise, or a hike a couple hours away,s Richmond students love to get out and explore.
